Mr. Ferry Fredy Karwur, is a molecular biologists graduated from Imperial College in 2001, currently the dean of the faculty of medicine and health sciences of Satya Wacana Christian University, academic staff at Nutrition Department/Study Program and the head of the metabolic diseases research group. In the last 8 years he and his group has carried out research on arthritis gout in Indonesia, focusing on population genetics/molecular epidemiology of arthritis gout with various ethnic and race background Indonesia, applying the tools of conventional genetics and modern approaches of genetics. He has published some papers on the arthritis gout in Indonesia; incl Gouty Arthritis from Archeo-genetics Perspectives in Island South East Asia (ISEA. Currently he is studying some important genes (ABCG2, SLC2A9, alcohol-metabolic genes, APOA5) which might have a relevance with tophaceous gouty arthritis in some ethnic background in Indonesia.
